A Spinster Abroad: Dancing, Discovery, and a Wedding in Brazil
From the hills above Sao Roque... red rooftops tucked into rolling green.
Hello Friends!
It’s been a little while since you’ve heard from me. Life and business have both been shifting and reshaping in ways I’m still figuring out, and I’ve needed the space to catch my breath. But I’ve missed this connection — and I’m looking forward to showing up here more often. Think of this as the start of a new chapter: one filled with stories, photos, and a few unexpected adventures.
And speaking of adventures… let’s start with Brazil.
A Spinster Abroad
After 40 years of keeping my passport tucked away, I dusted it off this August and flew south for my son’s wedding in Brazil.
If you ever want to feel both completely out of your element and completely alive, try navigating a foreign grocery store when you can’t read a single label.
But Brazil delivered in every way. The warmth of the people, the colorful little towns, the endless cups of café com leite — all of it reminded me why travel matters. You see things differently. You notice the small details, the slower pace, the way laughter needs no translation.
A Night to Remember
The wedding itself? Magical. Our family celebrated under twinkling lights, with music spilling out into the night. And though my feet are still recovering from hours of dancing (samba is no joke), my heart came home full.
Travel always brings me back to why I do what I do: photographing, writing, and sharing stories. It’s about connection — whether on a cobblestone street in a small Brazilian town or right here on Main Street, USA.
Coming Soon
The next few months are shaping up to be full of projects and stories I can’t wait to share:
Roger’s Road Trip — Roger (the van) and I took a little pit stop while life shifted gears, but we’re back on the road again. The children’s book series is moving forward, and I’ll be sharing behind-the-scenes updates as the project comes back to life.
Destination Main Street — More photography from the back roads and Main Streets of America, plus a fresh postcard collection in the works.
The Spinster Chronicles — My new quarterly publication, small but mighty, filled with nostalgia, road trip inspiration, and creative goodies.
Website Revamp — I’m giving my online home a fresh look and better flow. Be on the lookout for the new site, where everything — stories, photos, and projects — will come together in one place.
